The Universal Yearning for Significance

dedication - Spectre of the Brocken -caterpillar

What is a caterpillar if you don’t know it holds a butterfly?

What is a mountain if you’re unaware of the simmering power of its hidden volcano?

What is a heart if you’re oblivious to its clandestine attack?

What is creativity if they entangle you in the details?

Each person believes the world revolves around them, myself included. An infectious sadness invading our outlook.

We all clamor for dedications, questioning its whereabouts in our lives, unaware of the melancholy that will eventually accompany our self-absorption.

Each demanding our own share, oblivious to the irony of our collective pursuit.

Yet, dedication is a multifaceted gem, refracting differently through every individual eye, especially when it neglects to involve us.

The vast interpretations only deepen the sadness.

So, what is ‘you’ and what is ‘what’ if the only reality we grasp is shaped by our subjective thoughts?

The questions linger, urging contemplation on the intricacies of perception and the elusive nature of understanding.
