Dry Your Eyes: The Confidence of Farewell.

dry your eyes - Spectre of the Brocken

Dry your eyes and listen closely.

I understand; I do.

I was the one who ended your existence.

You had long departed in thought.

My narrative,

my pain unfolding.

Had I known,

I would have NOT invested more moments with you,

but now that chance has slipped away…

to NOT.

Grieve with the sunrise,

inhale – crisp air tainted with regret.

Breathe deeply,

she did on her last.

The winter solstice approaches,

and brings with it the chill of finality.

Dry Your Eyes: You can find this story in the collection “Spectre of the Brocken: Halo for the Observer.”
