Falling: A Reflection on Lost Connections

falling - Spectre of the Brocken

Remember the days when we shared a connection?

Yup, I sensed you were aware.

I drifted momentarily from reality,

just three days,

just long enough for her to exit stage left.

I found myself a character in my play.

An exhausting drama. Filled with weariness.

Action is yelled, and I pack my bags,

now feeling washed up as an impostor.

Act II reveals stories left untold,

where brutal honesty will most definitely falter.

I have paid my dues to this stage ten times over.

Yet here I am,

still calling and falling for love.

Falling: You can find this story in the collection “Spectre of the Brocken: Halo for the Observer.”
