Rapid Fire: Streets of Lost Intentions

rapid fire - Spectre of the Brocken - ran kime

Bullets of words dart at my face fast and fierce, holding me in a cradle of urgency.

Pack me with sawdust prepared for last rites, for in this town, my intentions seem lost.

Sucked dry by the succubus’ leeching grasp,

where beggars offer more than givers receive.

The streets hum a haunting screech that torments the meek.

Demons dance in the hidden corridors

while pushing a gun to your chin?

Hope wilts like a neglected flower,

until a revolutionary concept emerges,

only to vanish again with the herd.

They fall to their knees for their return,

a resurgence of hope,

an agreement, or perhaps…

Even Death.

Rapid Fire: You can find this story in the collection “Spectre of the Brocken: Halo for the Observer.”
